Taxi robber suspect tracked down 10 years on

A 39 year-old-woman was finally caught and arrested for robbing and injuring a taxi driver in 2001.  Cold case investigators double-checked DNA databases and unsolved crime cases.  The victim also took part in a burglary in 2004.  She denies both of the crimes still even though she got caught with both of them.

In my opinion, the woman should just own up to what she did because obviously they caught her.  She is still going to get punished no matter what, if she denies it or not.  Hopefully she will go to jail for a bit since she has prior records.  I know these type of crimes in the U.S., the victim would be doing some jail time.

  1. This article on the surface seems to have a happy ending, but I'll choose to play devil's advocate. In my opinion, I believe this is a complete waste of resources. How much time is finally too much time when we are talking about a single invesigaton? I understand that the victim has probably suffered major psychological dammage, but I am sure he has even moved on since the ten years have passed.
Maybe I have this all wrong and DNA evidence was simply stored in a database that finally "hit" ten years later. I'm sure the victim will be relieved to finally see justice served for his suffering, but I think rehashing the past could be equally as damaging.
